KLUB MOOZAK#15 - 2008/11/26 - FLUC/VIENNA

about Swamps Up Nostrils

Swamps Up Nostrils will present a surprise package of electronic mayhem, utilizing a laptop with various software, much of it self-made instruments programmed in Pure Data and perhaps some external sound sources depending on what fits in the luggage or can be found along the way. Anything from abrasive beats to delicate and strange sound textures can be expected.

Swamps Up Nostrils is the main project of musician/composer/sound artist Arnfinn Killingtveit, currently finishing his last year on a masters degree in music technology in Trondheim/Norway. Under this moniker, he explores a wide range of genres and styles, anything from contemporary electronic music to lo-fi improv, from various ambient expressions to abrasive noise, from abstract rhythmic auto-composition to playful brain dance. Utilizing anything from computers, found objects, circuitbent toys and effex pedals, various electronics, field recordings, basically anything that produces an interesting sound.
Swamps Up Nostrils is a project that saw it's conception around 1997, although it went another 5 years until it started it's more active phase, after finding an outlet on the internet "scene".  From then and until today, S.U.N. have released a lot of music in the underground scene of net-labels and CDR-labels, and extensively both collaborated with and remixed other underground artists, resulting in projects like Leaving Earth, Psycheout Nachspiel Noise, KRUFT!, the S.U.N.C.D. project, Origami Malebariska, Origami Statika, T3h 0mfgl0lr0flSTFUplzr5, A tie is a noose (with Audun Eriksen), productive vs destructive (with Animal Machine) to name some.  Arnfinn Killingtveit also runs the CDr + mp3 label Krakilsk from his home in Norway, on which he recently released a double DVDr filled with mp3's that represent his to this date complete discography (including remixes and collaborations). Arnfinn is also involved in the Origami Republika network, and helps arrange semi-regular concert evenings under the Klubb Kanin banner in his home town.  He also is one of the arrangers behind the Støy På Landet festival (which translates to "noise on the countryside", a pun on an old childrens song from Norway) held at a barn in the countryside one hour drive from Trondheim, which saw it's second birthday this summer with acts from all over the world.

about Audun Eriksen

Audun Eriksen builds musical instruments from recycled materials.
At Klub Moozak #15 he will perform the piece "Circuitbent presidents orchestra".This piece was made for an art gallery in Bergen by Jørgen Larsson, and was performed the first time by Audun Eriksen and John Hegre. Appearances by George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Al- Sahaf and others. The sounds from politician dolls are modulated by flesh (current passed through the body of the performer), lightpulses run from microcontrollers, mouth cavity resonance (sound passed through the mouth of the performer and then amplified), graphite/pencil strokes and other techniques.

about Animal Machine

Ernesto Bohorquez resides in Masovia, a province of Central Poland. After several tries of forming a band and never finding the right people, he started a noise music unit in 2006. Animal Machine could be described as a self destructive lapse into gabber electronics, harsh noise, power electronics and experimental music. the search never ends, liberation through sounds!

about Torstein Wjiik

Torstein Wjiik is an experimental project started by Kjetil Hanssen in October 2005 focusing on new and old ways of making sounds. Torstein Wjiik's music is based on ideas and putting them to life and in live situations it's all about controlling sounds in real time. The sounds are formed there and then, so don't expect anything. Since he started "Torstein Wjiik", Kjetil has managed to build a solo-release catalogue on nearly 30 releases, a bunch of split-releases, contributing to many compilations, started a couple of side-projects both solo and with friends and he also runs the label Ambolthue Records and the sublabel Tape Rape Records.

about B°tong

b°tong is one man influenced by the original purveyors of industrial muzak and the early pioneers of experimental electronic. his music varies from dark ambient layers of sound, brooding drones, itchy-scratchy tones to weird electronics and harsh noise.

b°tong creates sounds that give birth to images of darkness and tranquillity, the solitude of an icy polar night, or the equivalent of an underwater journey in a bottomless pit.

b°tong uses field-recordings, samples of natural sounds, and voices. studio releases are created with laptop. live he plays with various pedals, sampler, microphone, self-made noise generators, casio-keyboards and instruments like: ventilator, vibrator, toy-engines, kitchen utensils - with which he improvises instant sound.

b°tong has appeared at festivals like sinus-series (basel 2006), ausklang (hamburg 2006), shift (basel 2007) and played at radio stations and in numerous clubs all over europe.

about KLUB MOOZAK

KLUB MOOZAK is not only a place for extreme sounds but just as well a physical basis for those who expect more of an evening at a nightclub than just dj's and beautiful people. we want to abandon stylistic self-restrictions and break down walls that normally obstruct the sonorical variety - through liturgical production and consumption of different forms of waves and frequencies.
